AMLA DAL

Amla is rich in iron and vitamins. Regular intake of amla helps in digestion, it also brings glow to the skin and hair. It also prevents premature grey hair.

INGREDIENTS:
Toor dal   – 1 cup
Tomatoes   – 1 cup (finely chopped)
Amla    – 10
Green chillis   – 4
Turmeric   – a pinch
Slat    – as per taste
TAMPERING/ THADKA/ SEASONING:
Black gram dal   – 1 Tea Spoon
Mustard seeds  – ½ Tea Spoon
Cumin seeds   – ½ Tea Spoon
Garlic cloves  – 4
Dry red chillis   – 2
Curry leaves  – few

PROCESS:
1. Wash and place the Toor dal in a pressure cooker.
2. Put  the tomatoes and amla (by removing seeds inside them) separately in another bowl along with green chillis and turmeric
3. Add some water and cook up to 3 whistles till the dal turns soft
4. Let it cool and remove the cooker lid an mash the dal
5. Add sufficient salt to it.
6. Now take a pan and heat some oil in it.
7. When it becomes hot add black gram dal , mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let them splutter
8. When they starts splutter add red chillis, garlic cloves and curry leaves and saute
9. Add this seasoning to the dal.
10. Mix well and serve with rice or roti
