pepper rasam

Black pepper rasam is a very simple and easy variety of rasam made with pepper as a main ingredient. It is the best option for winter and rainy days. It acts as a best remedy for cold, cough or fever. It also helps to soothing the throat infection.

Black pepper   – 10 No.
Turmeric   – a pinch
Garlic    – 10 flakes
Coconut powder – 1 Tea Spoon
Salt    – as per taste
Tamarind   – a small lemon sized
Jaggery    – a small piece
Coriander leaves – few

Mustard seeds  – 1 Tea Spoon
Fenugreek seeds – 1 Tea Spoon
Cumin seeds   – 1 Tea Spoon
Curry leaves  – few

1. Grind black pepper, coconut, 3 garlic flakes and make in to fine paste.
2. Fry remaining garlic in little oil and add the paste you prepared
3. Add tamarind, turmeric, jaggery and water to the fried masala.
4. Add green chillis to it and boil the content for about 15 minutes.
5. Meanwhile take a frying pan and pour 1 Tea Spoon of oil in it.
6. Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds and let them all splutter. Then add curry leaves and turn off the flame
7. Add this seasoning to the boiling rasam and turn off the flame.
8. Take  into serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
